A shepherd is known as the person who tends to and takes care of sheep. The relationship we have with Jesus is like that of a sheep and a Shepherd, where we are the sheep and Jesus is the shepherd that leads us, tends to us and takes care of us.
Jesus Himself has identified Himself as The Good Shepherd (John 10:11), and if we were to stay close to Him, we will learn of His Shepherd’s Heart of love for us. He is indeed the Good Shepherd that takes care of us and gives us everything we need (Psalm 23:1).
